Mountain Club of South Africa (MCSA).

The mountain club of South Africa was founded in 1891 and is one of only two mountain clubs in Africa affiliated to the world body, the UIAA. It offers mountaineering, which includes climbing of all types, and hiking opportunities to its members and is involved in mountain search and rescue, training, conservation of mountain areas as well as procurement of access for mountaineering. It is divided into 14 sections, as follows:

o    Cape Town
o    Johannesburg
o    Kwa-Zulu Natal
o    Eastern Cape
o    Magaliesberg
o    Stellenbosch
o    South Cape
o    Free State
o    Hottentots Holland
o    Amajuba (Northern KZN)
o    Namibia
o    Paarl-Wellington
o    Tygerberg
o    Worcester

It has sections for climbing, hiking, expeditions, conservation, search and rescue and training. Membership is a must for all serious climbers and hikers.
